The Consort of Twelve is an ensemble of musicians from Hampshire and Sussex who specialise in the performance of Baroque music using the styles, techniques and instruments of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.


The Consort was founded in 1982 and has given more than 160 concerts both in the Chichester area and farther afield.

SATURDAY 26th APRIL, 7pm St Paul's Church, Chichester

Handel: Messiah - jointly with PORTSMOUTH BAROQUE CHOIR

conducted by Malcolm Keeler

 

SUNDAY 11th MAY, 6pm St John's Chapel, Chichester

(Leader Judy Tarling)

A programme of 17th and 18th century music for four violins, viola, cello, with bass viol and organ. Two English concertos for 2 treble recorders as well as two of the fine set of six concertos by Count Unico Willem van Wassenaer are major works in this programme.

 

SUNDAY 29th JUNE, 7.30pm Chichester University Chapel

A contrasting programme of orchestral music for strings, with wind. Concertos by Vivaldi and Handel, as well as music from the 2013 Glyndebourne production of Hippolyte e Aricie are framed by two large-scale Overture suites by J.J. Fux (whose treatise on counterpoint was studied by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven) and Telemann.

 

SUNDAY 21st SEPTEMBER, 6pm Bosham Church

(Leader Lucy Russell)

Attractive music Italian, German composers and English (Corelli, Vivaldi, Telemann and Boyce) are framed by suites from incidental music to plays and operas by Henry Purcell.
